On Saturday, June 22nd, I attended the ArtsLIVE! 2024 curated art show for local artists hosted by Lakes Center for the Arts, also known as the “LCA”. It was held at the Meredith Community Center located on Route 3 just North of downtown Meredith. There were 14 local artists and makers showing and selling their work, including painters, jewelry makers, fiber artists, and even someone who blows and decorates amazingly intricate Ukrainian eggs. I consider it an honor to have been selected to show and sell my work alongside so many other talented individuals.

THE LCA REQUESTED THAT THE ARTISTS SET UP "MINI-STUDIOS" SO HERE I AM, MAKIN' ART
I met lots of new folks and was visited by many friends and family. In fact, I personally brought close to two dozen friends and family members in to see the show, which is the whole point of the LCA– to foster creativity in the Lakes Region, and to get their members' artwork out into the public eye as best they can. A community is always stronger when it has a vibrant art scene. I'm so very thankful for everyone who made it a point to stop by… and especially thankful for those who also bought some art.
The president of the Lakes Region Art Association, which has a gallery in the Tanger Outlets in Tilton, stopped at my table and asked if I would be interested in submitting my work to the Association to be juried and hung in their gallery in Tilton. He thought I might be a good fit, because my work is different from anything they are currently displaying. I am planning to pursue that opportunity, so stay tuned for word on when you might be able to find my pieces in their establishment.
I also met many of the other LCA artists and got to check out what people are creating. There are a number of fantastic artists making some beautiful things out there. Go out and experience the local art scene; you won't be disappointed. You can find all of the artists who attended the event– as well as many others– in the LCA’s online Artist Directory at www.lakescenterforarts.org/artists/
All in all, I believe the event was a success, and I'd love to do more events like it in the future. It was great fun and an excellent experience. Perhaps I'll see you at the next one!
